The Museum’s aim is to preserve collections of educational and historical interest. The library, used for research purposes, contains 10,000 books, 2,000 archives, 6,000 slides and 5,000 photographs. The Museum offers guided tours, various activities and ‘Home Front Days’. The replica Roman Fort and Dark Age Village are open air classrooms. The ‘schools’ programme can be adapted for adult visitors.
